| General News: Community Info |
[Feb. 16th, 2010|11:38 am] |
Many of you here at Torchbearers have probably been wondering where all the damn posts are and why the Ormes Society page looks a hell of a lot different. Well, I've been moving things around a bit to make posting a great deal easier for me. I changed the blogging software that I use and decided to host scans on my own website instead of on Tinypic (which likes to randomly delete images without warning).
I don't plan on deleting this community and anyone is welcome to start up a discussion whenever they'd like! However, I'm going to be posting scans over at the main Ormes Society website. Feel free to pop on over right now and check out Boom, Zoe and Go Girl! I'll also be reposting scans from here which Tinypic decided to so nicely delete over at the main site too.
Also, I've decided to spend the next four weeks spotlighting characters and creators for Black/Women's History Month. Are there characters you'd like to see? Creators you want to know more about? You can let me know right here or drop me an email. |

Hey guys! I'm doing a complete site overhaul, and that includes the Ormes Society website. If you know of any black women working in the comics industry, could you please direct them to this post? Thanks! |

New Release: Those of you who are fans of the awesome character Dr. Saida Nri will be happy to know that you can pick up the Adrenaline graphic novel she stars in! Those who pick up the graphic novel at DCBS are entitled to a free sketch from the artist of the series.

New Hire: Kick-ass artist Carol "Klio" Burrell has been hired to draw the upcoming graphic novel adaptation of Octavia Butler's Kindred series from Beacon Press.

| Torchbearers: Glory |
[Jun. 24th, 2009|12:44 pm] |

I'm really happy to spotlight an indie project here! Most of the indie guys don't seem to use the internet to post preview pages, so it's hard to promote their work because it's so difficult to find sample pages of it. Luckily, Korby Marks has made it easy for me. Meet his new character, Glory! Glory will be appearing in the upcoming comic series Glorious. Nine scans from Glorious #0 beneath the cut!

| Torchbearers: Geneveive Cray |
[Apr. 21st, 2009|03:03 pm] |

From Deathblow: Byblows, meet Geneveive Cray. Answers.com will bring us up to speed.
In the three-issue mini-series, Deathblow: Byblows (1999-2000), written by Alan Moore with art by Jim Baikie, it is revealed that I.O. have created several variant clones of each Team 7 member, using the DNA collected from them without their knowledge. In the event of a Team 7 member's death, their clones are released in a simulated environment with the intention that only one survive to act as the member's replacement. However, the series is concerned with Deathblow's clones only.
Seven scans under the cut!
